Halo: Reach
will be coming to Xbox Game Pass and the Halo: Master Chief Collection on December 3, 2019.
Along with this announcement came a trailer revealing the prequel will be enhanced to 4K graphics on the Xbox One. In addition, Halo: Reach will be launching on PC.
Pre-orders are currently available for both the Xbox One and PC versions.
Halo: Reach released September 14, 2010, and was the last installment of the franchise developed by Bungie before the studio parted ways with Microsoft to work on Destiny. The game is set just before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.
Instead of taking control of the Master Chief, Halo: Reach is the second game in the Halo series in which players do not see events unfold from the iconic Spartan’s perspective (the first being Halo 3: ODST). While Halo 5: Guardians irritated lifelong fans of the series due to its underwhelming Master Chief content, Halo: Reach was an exception to this frustration as it serves as a precursor to the Master Chief’s taking of the mantle as the UNSC’s primary hero.
This news comes in lieu of any further information regarding Halo Infinite, presumably the launch title coming with Project Scarlett in holiday 2020, but this could change as X019 continues to unravel in the coming days.
Fans of Xbox’s flagship franchise, Halo, can watch the reveal trailer for Halo: Reach as it will appear on Xbox Game Pass and The Master Chief Collection here.
343 Industries took over the development of all Halo installments after the departure of Bungie from the franchise. 343’s first official video game release in the Halo IP was Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, followed by Halo 4 the next year.
