Ensemble studios made a very bold move by making Halo Wars – a console-based realt-time strategy game designed with the console in mind. it was definitely an interesting title to be the swansong of the now defunct Ensemble, but it is not the swansong of the Halo Wars sub-franchise. With the people of Creative Assembly and 343 Industries behind Halo Wars 2, both teams are poised to make a splash with this next entry. It was a big surprise to finally see some actual gameplay along with the introduction of a brand new faction called The Banished.
The gameplay is actually more frenetic and fast-paced than that of the first Halo Wars and it also looks like the unit limit has been bumped up significantly. Halo Wars 2 is also no slouch in the graphics department. It is amazing to see combat ensuing between the factions where gorgeous particle effects abound. It would be nice to know a little more abound The Banished, but more will be shown on the show floor at E3. Also, there is a week long beta on Xbox One starts today. If you were ever curious about how a RTS could possibly work on a console and have never touched the first Halo Wars, now is your chance.
Halo Wars 2 will launch on February 21, 2017 across Xbox One and Windows 10 and will also support Play Anywhere.
