Heaven 17 Was Reportedly Offered Just $7500 to Use a Song in GTA 6

In a recent Twitter post, Martyn Ware of the band Heaven 17 claimed that he and his band was contacted by Rockstar Games to include the song Temptation in the Grand Theft Auto 6 soundtrack. However, according to Ware, they were only offered $7500 as a buyout without any future royalties.“I was recently contacted by my publishers on behalf of Rockstar Games re the possibility of using Temptation on the new Grand Theft Auto 6”, he wrote. “Naturally excited about the immense wealth that was about to head my way, I scrolled to the bottom of the email re the offer… IT WAS $7500 – for a buyout of any future royalties from the game – forever… To put this in context, Grand Theft Auto 6 grossed, wait for it… $8.6 BILLION Ah, but think of the exposure… Go fuck yourself” It’s worth noting Grand Theft Auto 6 is not out yet and has grossed nothing and Ware was referring to either the last game in the series or the entirety of the series.  Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch in fall 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The game’s details via the publisher:
