PlatinumGames announced via a post on Twitter that game designer, director, and executive vice president Hideki Kamiya will leave the company on October 12, 2023. Kamiya claims the departure “came after a lot of consideration” and is based on his “own beliefs.” Kamiya co-founded PlatinumGames back in October 1 2007 along with current CEO Atsushi Inabata and former members Shinji Mikami and Tatsuya Minami. Prior to the announcement, Kamiya began directing a new game codenamed Project G.G., which is reportedly the final game that follows Capcom‘s Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101 games.

As announced on the official PlatinumGames X account, I will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023. This came after a lot of consideration based on my own beliefs. and was by no means an easy decision to make.
However, I feel this outcome is for the best. I will continue to create in my Hideki Kamiya way. I hope you’ll keep your eyes peeled.
