The 2016 Hitman reboot is getting a direct sequel called Hitman 2 that launches in November. Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the sequel in partnership with developer IO Interactive during a livestream ahead of next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
Hitman 2 will take players to new locations such as Miami where an “in-progress motorsport race” is occurring.
Various environments such as “sun-drenched streets” and “dark, dangerous rainforest” will be traversed by Agent 47 as he hunts the elusive Shadow Client and his militia once.
During his mission, Agent 47 will also learn the hidden truth about his past.
Hitman 2 will also introduce the new Sniper Assassin mode, which is a standalone, co-op feature. This will allow players to work together online in a Hitman game or the first time.
Sniper Assassin can also be played in single player mode for those who want to play as Agent 47. Matter of fact, it is available to play now as an early access bonus for those who pre-order Hitman 2.

Hitman 2 is being sold in a standard edition for $59.99. There will also be a $79.99 “Silver Edition,” which includes the first DLC and adds a new location, sniper map, and new outfits and weapons, and a $99.99 “Gold Edition,” which includes both planned DLC packs. In other words, the sequel is sticking to a more traditional DLC structure instead of the episodic release of the original.
The fact that there’s a new Hitman game at all is something of a story. Last year, Square Enix dropped developer IO Interactive in what looked to be the end for the long-running Hitman series. But IO Interactive instead completed a management buyout of the studio, becoming fully independent and retaining the rights to the Hitman franchise. Hitman 2 will be published by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment instead.
Hitman 2 will release for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on November 13th.
