Black Bird Interactive and Gearbox officially announced Homeworld 3 after teasing it with a brief teaser a few days ago. The game is a direct sequel to 2003’s Homeworld 2 which was made by Relic Entertainment, the team behind Age of Empires 4.
Black Bird Interactive took the helm for Homeworld series since 2016 when they developed Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak and launched it in collaboration with Gearbox Software. Now, the team is working on a bigger project of the series after being delivering a worthy title three years ago. Homeworld 3 is promised to be a huge battleground for space wars and varied combats in Real-Time Strategy genre.
The game is now under-development but Gearbox runs a crowdfunding campaign until the end of September on FIG, so you can help the developers to reach their goals if you are truly a huge fan of the series.
The announcement trailer doesn’t reveal more about the gameplay or story, but according to Black Bird Interactive, Homeworld 3 will be featuring a deep story-line with many twists in the tale. CEO of the studio Rob Cunningham said:
Homeworld 3 is the last word in epic space combat. It will capture the mood and tone of Homeworld and deliver it in an exactly expected and juicy, lovely way. There will be an extension of the story that’s totally satisfying with some interesting twists and turns, and locations that I think will blow some minds and resonate with existing fans and new fans alike.
The game is set to be launched in Q4 2022.
