A story trailer released for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity ahead of its November 20, 2020 release date. The trailer includes glimpses into the plot of the beat-em-up. The story takes place before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that caused Link to go into hero hibernation for one hundred years. Follow Zelda, Link, and the four Champions as they piece together the underlying secrets of the Guardians. After Zelda has a vision of Calamity Ganon bringing doom to the people of Hyrule, she rallies the land’s heroes to fight against the impending threat and struggles with harnessing her true power in time to protect Hyrule. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a hack and slash action game in the vein of Dynasty Warriors, a long running series of games focusing on the brutal simplicity of one versus one thousand style game, making the player feel like an unstoppable force in the flow of combat.Players can choose from a host of characters to fight as, including Daruk, Impa, Link, Mipha, Revali, Urbosa, and Zelda. When playing as Link, players can also choose from 17 different weapons, all coming with their own personal flair. When choosing another hero, however, players are given a unique weapon for that hero to use. Each hero has different abilities at their disposal, with Link having access to all of his Sheikah Slate abilities from Breath of the Wild. The story is a backdrop for the combat, it seems, but the effort Koei Tecmo and Omega Force put into developing on the lore established in BotW is a level of commitment fans have learned to not expect from a game with a Dynasty Warriors motif. To see a trailer with lore implications, that won’t be spoiled here, certainly wasn’t expected from the upcoming release.Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity releases on November 20, 2020 on the Nintendo Switch.Gaming Instincts is dedicated to bringing its readers all the latest and greatest news, reviews, guides, and updates for all their favorite titles and more.
