CEO and founder of Slightly Mad Studios Ian Bell has just uploaded some concept images of the Mad Box controller he also shared some details about how will the online will work on its console.
Check the screenshots here:
While referring to the online capabilities of the console he revealed an interesting approach about using ads so that players don’t have to pay for online services:
I have a cunning plan. Paid online? Free online? How about we pay you to be online??? Every valid hour spent earning credits that translate into real world money for you… Yes it will mean advertisements, but YouTube is scraping along… Just a thought…
My thinking is a cheap sub that you can earn back, plus MUCH more… Potentially.
Ian Bell says the Mad Box it’s powerful enough to handle games at 4k at 60FPS, he speaks to developers offering them a full engine for free and recently confirmed that this “Mad” console is capable of VR very comfortable he said”We’re going 90 per eye, 180 FPS internally. My CTO has just called me and confirmed that’s what we’ll deliver. “
One of the most interesting fetures about he Mad Box it’s the fact that Ian Bell is offering is a chance for independent developers to get their hands on a cross-platform, ‘almost one click export’ engine to allow them to deploy their games on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Mad Box. Porting time will be minimal for those that have their own engine. The engine will be totally free.
You can see in the video above the latest design of the Mad Box, it’s was tweaked by fans’ request, so if you don’t like the concept of the controller share your opinion at Ian Bell’s Twitter account and in the comment section below.
