If Xbox Series X Gets Delayed, So will PlayStation 5 Suggest Insider

Reports from Bloomberg reveals the decisions of both Microsoft and Sony, ahead of a tough release for their next generation consoles. COVID-19 has represented an unique challenge for both companies, insiders have suggested that the conditions for a 2020 release are not optimal, any company might be tempted to delay the release of their console, but what’s the competitor move is what preventing them for doing it so.

The outlet reports that due to COVID-19, Sony has not being able to meet the schedule on their plans for the current fiscal year, a very important meeting was planned to take place at Tokyo to approve business plans related to the PlayStation 5.  insiders told Bloomberg that,  COVID-19 travel restrictions “have prevented Sony engineers from flying to China to direct final adjustments before assembly plants go into mass production.”

Insiders also revealed that PlayStation 5 release depends on Xbox decision of whether delay or not the Xbox Series X in 2020. Xbox boss, Phil Spencer has stated that Microsoft don’t have any plans to the delay of the Series X. However, Spencer admits that, if conditions get worst, the company might decide to push the release date to 2021.

We have nothing right now that says we’re not going to make the dates that we’ve been planning,” … “But this is real time stuff, and I’m going to put the safety and security of the teams at the top, along with a quality product. I don’t want to rush a product out if it’s not ready.”

The immense threat each platform represents to the other is proving to be a real problem for both companies, both are already struggling to reach a profit margin in their hardware, and will have a hard time in the manufacturing process. Fans have their wallets ready for Holidays, and a lot of pressure is on each company’s CEO. Bloomberg has been told that each company eagerness to reach fans and quickly become the adopted system for next gen “may force both companies to sell their new consoles at a loss.”

COVID-19 is causing a catastrophe in the manufacturing process, analyst have predicted that the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X might be delayed due to the COVID-19. If both companies manage to not delay the release of their next gen consoles, they could face other problems, ComicBook suggest that problems to meet demands at retail stores might harm the launch of both consoles.
