I don’t know how you feel, if I tell you that I.G.I. series is coming back again, but at least for me, it was a great surprise to see one of the favorite games of my childhood is about to make a comeback after 16 years. The most shocking thing is that we have never heard of a rumor pointing to the revival of the franchise and now Toadman Interactive, the studio behind Immortal: Unchained, has revealed its latest project which is a prequel for I.G.I. series.
First of all, IGI Origins will be loyal to the standards of the two previous games that developed by Innerloop Games and if you want a proof for that, you better know that some of the developers of the franchise in the past, are now working with Toadman on the upcoming game. Robin Flodin, CEO of Toadman Interactive claimed that the game will focus on foundation of I.G.I. organization, but whether it will be a sequel or prequel is yet to be known. Here you can watch the announcement trailer:
The development also wants the community to support them in process of developing by sharing their ideas and expectations from IGI Origins. Foldin believes that if players want to see “the most out of this game” they should “provide ideas and feedback” during early stages of development.
Project I.G.I.: I’m Going in was the first title of the franchise that developed by a Norwegian studio and released in 2000 exclusively on Windows. The series is always known for it’s tactical and stealth gameplay that tasks you to infiltrate and sabotage some highly secured facilities. I.G.I. – 2: Covert Strike was a sequel for the first game that released 3 years later but it couldn’t reach the popularity of the first game.
IGI Origins set to be released in 2021 and it will definitely be a next-gen game but the target platforms are still unclear. For more information on the game, don’t forget to follow daily news on Gaming Instincts and also subscribe to our Youtube channel.
