Images for Nintendo’s upcoming console successor to the Switch have seemingly leaked online. The images are allegedly of the factory prototype which were reportedly leaked on Chinese forums and on Reddit. The images align with past rumors and leaks claiming it has an 8-inch LCD screen, a USB-C port, a kickstand, and more. Additionally, according to VGC and an anonymous source, the images align with the expectations of what the console will look like. According to the images, The Nintendo Switch 2 will reportedly include 12GB of RAM, HDMI 2.1 support, and 256GB of internal storage.
According to a seemingly new leaker who accurately leaked the release date and price of the PS5 Pro, the next Nintendo console will be announced in early October and will cost $400. The leaker claims “it’ll come in 2 different SKU’s,” which basically means two different forms but they “haven’t gotten clarification and the specific differences between them.” It’s worth noting this leaker has no notable acclaim or track record of being reliable and their statement may just be empty claims, none of which have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa made a statement on Twitter earlier this year that Nintendo will announce its next console and the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. The fiscal year notably ends on March 31, 2025.
According to a past statement by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, the publisher will keep releasing new titles and content for Nintendo Switch “without being bound by the traditional concept of the platform lifecycle,” and states that the company “would like to continue to see many consumers play Nintendo Switch, and to maintain our business momentum.” This statement was made during the company’s second quarter financial results presentation as spotted by Gematsu. It likely means that the Switch will continue to receive support even after a new console is eventually released. Additionally, Furukawa also stated that the paid Nintendo Switch Online service has surpassed a total of 38 million registered users as of September 30, 2023, and that the company also plans on “expanding the content available through Nintendo Switch Online.”
