Infinity Ward Taking Fan Feedback and Making Adjustments to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

With the ongoing Alpha trial for this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release receiving plenty of attention, developers Infinity Ward are utilizing the process to grasp some much-needed fan feedback in order to make the game a polished piece of craftsmanship. They’re wasting no time as a few tweaks have already been adjusted or have plans for adjustment thanks to players putting in their two-cents on certain gameplay mechanics.

Infinity Ward’s communications manager, Ashton Williams has alerted fans via Twitter of the ongoing tweaks, including the footsteps audio in the game. Reports have claimed that player footsteps were far too loud while drowning out the relatively quiet enemy footsteps. This can make it difficult to stay aware of when enemies are present in your vicinity, so Infinity Ward made the necessary adjustments to lower player footsteps while raising enemy footsteps. The changes will be seen (or heard, rather) in the upcoming beta for the game before launch.

There also seems to be some warranted adjustments coming in the form of multiplayer penalties to those ditching out of matches early on, specifically the new Gunfight mode. Gunfight is the new 2V2 mode that offers an intense and high-paced online mode that depends on the fair and evenly matched 2 player versus 2 player approach. If players exit the match early, they leave their “teammate” in an unfair 2v1 match which can be incredibly frustrating, to say the least. While Infinity Ward hasn’t yet announced a fix, they are made aware of the issue due to fan feedback and will be working on a proper penalty system, hopefully before the game’s official release.

There’s plenty of exciting changes hitting this year’s Call of Duty title which promises cut-throat action and the return of the series’ coveted Campaign mode. While there will still be a hefty focus on the series heart and soul multiplayer modes, it seems Modern Warfare is shaping up to be a core hit for both casual campaign players and dedicated multiplayer fans alike. There has also been rumors that we may see a post-launch battle royale mode hitting the game sometime next year.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
