Inside and Limbo Will Release on Switch this Month

Danish developer Playdead confirmed some time ago, that the heart-wrenching and award-winning puzzle-platforming of Inside would be releasing on the Nintendo Switch. But today, Japanese games magazine Famitsu confirmed the release of Inside and Limbo on the Nintendo Switch eShop on 28th June.

Check out the announcement trailer of Inside, featuring some gamelpay footage:

This also will be the first time that Playdead’s platformer Limbo is on a Nintendo console. It should be noted that these dates are, at least for the moment, Japan only. Players should wait that Playdead announces a solid western release date.

About INSIDE

INSIDE is a puzzle-platformer adventure game developed and published by Playdead in 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. The game was released for iOS in December 2017, and will be released for Nintendo Switch at an unannounced date. The player controls a boy in a dystopic world, solving environmental puzzles and avoiding death. It is the spiritual successor to Playdead’s 2010 game Limbo, and features similar 2.5D gameplay.

Playdead began work on Inside shortly after the release of Limbo, using Limbo’s custom game engine. The team switched to Unity to simplify development, adding their own rendering routines, later released as open source, to create a signature look. The game was partially funded by a grant from the Danish Film Institute.

About Playdead

Playdead is an independent game developer and publisher based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company was founded in 2006 by game designer Arnt Jensen. Since then, we have made LIMBO and INSIDE. Today, we are a team of more than 35 creative professionals, coming from a broad range of experience and education. We are hard at work on bringing LIMBO and INSIDE to more players – and on making new games.”
