Ever since E3 2019 happened with all of those sweet game announcements, we can confirm that there are indeed a lot of games coming in 2020. This means that the year is packed with plenty of new games to play and that’s something we can all look forward to. Alongside that, there’s the fact that the Project Scarlett coming out in Holidays 2020, which will make the games run even better. Since it would take forever to name every single game coming out, we at Gaming Instincts will give you a good look at what’s coming out next year.
So who’s excited for Final Fantasy VII? I am and so are many fans of the Final Fantasy series. This critically acclaimed game which originally came out in 1997 is getting a full-fledged remake and so far, it looks pretty impressive. The fighting looks great, the characters look gorgeous, and Tifa is cooler than ever!
If fans remember how the original game went, it’s speculated that there’s going to be a lot going on in this game, like dealing with the events in Midgar, Cloud dressing up like a girl and meeting the rest of the party members. There’s still a lot that we haven’t seen since the gameplay shown is basically the beginning of Final Fantasy VII. Obviously there’s tons to look forward to, and the game is set for March 3, 2020.
Why be just one hacker when you can be many hackers! Watch Dogs Legion takes place in a dystopian post-brexit society where the citizens of London are not happy. So as the agents of DedSec, it’s your duty along with any Londoners you recruit to take London back. Watch Dogs has gone though some different changes as the games have gone on. You played as a vigilante in the first game, a young hacker making a better life for himself in the second, and now any NPC in Legion.
It’s a cool idea and many people are curious on how the gameplay and overall story will turn out. I personally want to know what happens when you recruit a team full of people with the same voice-actors. Hopefully Watch Dogs Legion will let us experience the game in a completely new way when it comes out in March 6.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game where a greedy raccoon drops you off on a deserted island to create a new town, so he doesn’t have to himself. In the previous Animal Crossing games, you transfer into a new town, ready to buy and sell furniture using the produce and fish found in Town among other things. Well now you have to “survive” on the island by crafting new tools and furniture to make the Island more inhabitable for the other villagers on the island.
Nintendo themselves say that they need more time to make the game better for everyone, so they have to switch out the original 2019 release for March 20, 2020. They say that many new features and content have yet to be added as of now, so I suppose waiting a few more months will be worth it in the end.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a highly anticipated game being developed by CD Projekt RED. In a highly-developed and dangerous futuristic world, a mercenary encounters a mission that goes awry, and must be guided by the hologram spirit of Keanu Reeves to take his life back. From what I’ve seen, the game looks like a typical FPS with a few tech powers, but it seems that it will be more than that.
As a full-fledged RPG adventure, you can make choices through the game that will make you either a pacifist or a badass. Simply look for peaceful ways to end situations, or if things get sticky you can handle things with your bare hands. It’s all up to you in this world and hopefully the gameplay fulfills all of these promises when it comes out in April 2020.
Square Enix is making a new Avengers game that looks to be a step up from super hero games coming out in recent times, such as Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Jokes aside, this game looks great. Crystal Dynamics have a good reputation to uphold coming from the recent Tomb Raider Trilogy and the fact the game won’t have any sort of microtransactions sounds promising. Aside from future DLC content, I’m sure that the game has the manpower to do pretty well and will come out in May 2020.
Dying Light is finally getting a sequel and it looks amazing. You can parkour around the city, save lives, and kill both zombies and bandits, depending on how you affect the story. The choices you make in this game will affect the overall setting in the city as it may come under fire from the over-protective guards, or visiting bandits. Also above all else, there are several zombies roaming around, making your life harder as the events go on. Hopefully I can experience parkouring around the city while fighting zombies in the second quarter of 2020.
Now Halo Infinite is something that almost all Xbox and Halo Fans are waiting for. We finally get to step into the shoes of Master Chief one more time in a new open-world adventure where he will have to step out one more time to fix everything. Moreover, it looks like chief will get to fully explore what seems to be Earth turned into a Halo ring from the previous series. The whole plot for the game is vague at the moment but fans seem to by hype for what Master Chief has to fight against in Holiday 2020, just in time for the release of Project Scarlett.
Now aside from these games coming out, we can take a look at some honorable mentions that don’t exactly have a release date in 2020, but are still something you can look out for in the year.
Travis Touchdown is back in a new adventure where he has to fight some “Thanos-level dudes” in order to save the world. After Grasshoppers’ Travis Strikes Again, people have been waiting to play as our hot-blooded hero who is willing to do anything to become the number one assassin. No real info, let alone actual gamemplay has been revealed yet, but I can be assured that the game will be as bloody, cool and brutal as the previous titles.
A direct sequel to the original title in 2005 where you play as a young Psychic who breaks into a summer camp to become an official Psychonaut. Well now that he is one, he gets a suit and a new adventure along with it. The footage we’ve seen looks just like the first game, but drastically better with a higher framerate, higher resolution, and textures while keeping that cartoony aesthetic it’s going for. The game looks great and I can’t wait to play in in 2020.
Persona 5 is one of the games that you may have missed in 2016, well now Atlus is releasing Persona 5 Royal, which is technically this game’s “Golden” reimagining of the story which will add another school semester, new music, enemies, and team attacks. It fixes some things that fans have complained about such as how repetitive the battles look, and how overwhelming some events can be. While the game will be released in October 31, 2019, the North America release will be coming sometime in 2020. While we don’t know when the game will be released I believe that the game is the feel-good adventure we need in 2020.
A Nintendo Switch trailer was also released.
