The original Doom released in 1993 which revolutionized first-person shooters everywhere. With some of the crazies demons and amazing level-design, the original Doom is something to behold. Well now John Romero, the original creator, has released a new free unofficial Doom Sequel that bridges the gap between the last level of Doom 1 and the first level of Doom 2.
That’s right, it’s a fifth chapter for the original Doom, SIGIL is being released for free. The fifth chapter takes place after chapter 4 from the original Doom, “Thy Flesh Consumed.” At the end of Doom 1, Doomguy goes back to earth in order to destroy the hell that’s reached earth in the second game, well unfortunately Baphoment “glitched the final teleporter” and takes doom to the even darker parts of hell. Now Doomguy has to find a new way home, while dealing with Baphomet’s army.
Sigil is made up of nine new levels that work in both the single-player and cooperative modes in this “megawad,” which is a term used for a large batch of .WAD files that take up the space of a fully-fledged game, put on a Doom wad. In fact, Romer used Pascal van der Heiden’s Doom Builder 2 to create the game.
Romero has worked on it during weekends and his time off in 2017 and 2018, it was also previously announced to be available during Doom’s 25th anniversary last year, pushing the production of the physical edition to today.
Also for the low price of 6.66 euros, players can get soundtrack from Buckethead, which is only available to to play in the megawad itself. The other two editions old out which contained the Beast Box, which is apparently the most evil game box Romero has ever seen.
