Kena: Bridge of Spirits Tribeca Showcase

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

has been one of the more interesting games to watch out for since it was announced. The game looks more like the kind of animated film from Disney or Pixar, and the gameplay blends multiple styles together. Today we got a small showcase of the game with the developers at Ember Lab, courtesy of the Tribeca Games Spotlight.

Players control Kena, who is tasked with guiding spirits to the afterlife. To complete this task she must fight twisted enemies and even the spirits themselves in order to see them on their way.  Her weapon of choice is a magic staff that she uses to hit enemies in melee flurries. This rod can also shift into a bow so she can use ranged combat.

Joining her on her journey are little creatures known as the Rot. They will help her through combat, building a gauge that allows more powerful commands to be issued to them. Outside of combat, these creatures help Kena traverse the land, and even help solve the many puzzles scattering the land.

An official statement describes the game as:

A story-driven action adventure with a stunning visual aesthetic combining exploration with fast-paced combat. Players find and grow a team of charming spirit companions called the Rot, enhancing their abilities and creating new ways to manipulate the environment. Kena: Bridge of Spirits seamlessly blends action and narrative into an unforgettable experience. Travel with Kena, a young Spirit Guide on a quest to uncover the mysterious story surrounding the demise of the village.

While this is only a small amount of the game players can expect to Dive into the world of Kena: Bridge of Spirits on August 24th on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
