Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn is very close its release and Nintendo of Japan shared some information about the new abilities, minigames and amiibo functionality for the the platform game.
Siliconera managed to translate the official description from Nintendo read what’s new in the Wii’s port for 2019:
Ravel Abilities
With help from Prince Fluff and some enemies, Kirby can gain new abilities from new items that give Kirby a new hat to wear as well. Each ability has its own actions:
Knitting Needles: Knit large balls of yarn to attack.
Wire: Makes a sharp sword out of wire. You can even do a spin attack!
Button: Throw out button bombs to destroy enemies and obstacles.
Nylon: Create a wind that gives you a floaty jump. The wind will suck in nearby beads as well.
Bobbin: A bobbin yo-yo stretches out from on top of Kirby’s head to attack enemies.
Pincushion: Throw pins out in many directions!Devilish Mode
In Devilish mode, these three devils will come into each stage and cause havoc in various ways that make it harder for Kirby. For example, in some stages, they will attack and make Kirby lose health. It’s a harder mode for players familiar with the stages, and Devilish Mode can be played an every stage in the game.
The Kirby series amiibo can be used to give Kirby Ravel abilities that each feature a special hat. You can use them to get a Ravel ability anytime. There is no limit to how many times this feature can be used, and the Smash Bros. line versions of Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight can be used too.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn was developed by Good-Feel and HAL Laboratory for the Wii. It is the tenth installment of the Kirby series and was released in October 2010. Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn it is an enhanced remake of Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Wii. featuring the same content as the original release, but including new power-ups, new modes, and new sub-games starring Meta Knight and King Dedede as the playable characters.
