Konami Holds Kojima Hostage, Prevented Him to Receive Awards For Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Konami Holds Kojima Hostage, Prevented Him to Receive Awards For Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

So Konami is at it again… if they haven’t had enough playing the antagonist by axing all the AAA games they had in development, pissing on their fanbase, treating their staff like slaves, etc. Well here are some more news; according to video game awards presenter Geoff Keighley, Konami Prevented legendary game director Hideo Kojima from attending the video game awards of 2015 to receive the awards for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The voice actor Kiefer Sutherland who served as the voice for Big Boss on Metal gear solid 5 received the awards on Kojima’s behalf.

Here is the video of this sad announcement from VGA 2015:

As you can see, Konami is doing everything in their power to not let Kojima enjoy the success that him and his team at Kojima Productions rightfully deserved; it’s one thing that a power house such as Konami threw in the cash for Metal Gear Solid 5, however, it was the immense effort of the talented people at Kojima Productions that managed to put together such a masterpiece and had it been not for Hideo Kojima and his team, the franchise itself would not be the juggernaut that it is today.

During the celebration of the PlayStation Awards, a PR person from Konami received the Metal Gear Solid 5 Award instead of Hideo Kojima.

“Kojima’s status as a Konami employee appears to remain intact, given Keighley’s comments. But it’s been a strange year for the man who released Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain to critical acclaim. Rumors began to spread in the months before before The Phantom Pain‘s release that Kojima and Konami were on the outs.”
