PlayStation Plus is the host for two free games every month and for July, the service was going to receive PES 2019 and Horizon Chase Turbo until an unusual decision from Sony changed the schedule. At the last minute, Sony announced that Detroit: Become Human will be available instead of PES 2019 this month.
While the replacement doesn’t seem to be so bad, but the reason behind such a decision is yet to be known. At first, some media thought it might be Konami’s decision to pull the game off the service, but after making connection to PES European brand manager, he told that Konami is totally unaware of the reason for the replacement. Lennart Bobzien said:
I cannot really tell you what happened because I just found out today, in the morning when I opened my laptop. I can’t really explain.
Aside from Bobzien, another employee from Konami also said that the decision was made by Sony and the inquiries should be made to the PlayStation brand owner.
All in all, Sony hasn’t provided any explanation on the replacement yet, though they have the right to choose the titles they want freely. However, at least the company should provide an answer that whether PES 2019 will become free through the next month or it wouldn’t be shown-up in the service again.
Detroit: Become Human and PES 2019 both launched last year and regarding the former going to release on PC soon, making it available for free on PS Plus is a good decision from Sony, though some PES 2019 might not like it.
