Level-5 has just announced Lady Layton, a new puzzle adventure that will take place some time after the original games and focus on longtime protagonist Hershel Layton’s daughter, who follows in her father’s footsteps of deduction and mystery solving.
While gameplay will apparently primarily stick to the ideas and mechanics the series is known for, the game will no longer be a Nintendo exclusive, launching on iOS and Android devices alongside the 3DS version. Per series tradition, numerous anime cutscenes will be incorporated to tell key story points, some of which can be seen in the Japanese reveal trailer.
It’s due out in Japan in spring 2017.
Check out the Trailer:
“The story follows Catriel Layton, the daughter of Professor Hershel Layton. Catriel is a “jack-of-all-trades, mystery-solving detective” who solves the strange incidents that happen in London. From looking for someone’s pet cat to exposing the criminal in a murder case, she’ll take on any job. Her bizarre ideas for solving cases are gradually becoming a topic, and she’s starting to receive various cases. While she originally started working as a detective to find her father who suddenly disappeared, she is working to solve a variety of mysteries in town in the course. Pursuing new requests each day, the search for her father is not progressing. Catriel also has an assistant—a talking dog named Sharo—to help her in reasoning.”
