League of Legends – Coming to Consoles in 2020

Riot Games, League of Legends should be considered a classic for all intents and purposes. The company is celebrating 10 years with the franchise, they’ve branched out competitively and kept the game alive and running consistently this whole time. Riot has added a gang of new modes, new champions to keep the game fresh for users. Today Riot Games made a huge announcement regarding their franchise and will make the game accessible for everyone.

Riot Games will bring League of Legends to mobile phones and the console platforms in 2020 with League of Legends: Wild Rift. Now, to be clear this is not a port of the PC game. You can watch the trailer/update below, Riot seems to have streamlined some of the controls to adopt more of a two-stick motion. While it isn’t a port of the PC classic, bringing the game to console has given Riot the opportunity and chance to remaster and redesign the visuals of their champions and heroes. Riot shows some of the previews in the trailer below and they look more clean and lush. League of Legends: Wild Hunt won’t have all the champions in the game at launch (but I saw my boy Jax, so I’m set) and they’ve also streamlined the game to make it shorter than the PC game. Where some games on PC can take an hour the video stated that games should take 20 to 30 minutes.

Getting League of Legends in some form onto mobile and consoles just completes the domination of the game on all platforms. As someone who used to play on PC years and years ago having a console port is a dream come true. Riot also confirmed the game will be free-to-play and NEVER pay-to-win.

League of Legends: Wild Hunt will be released sometime in 2020, let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later.
