Dataminer KapuccinoHeck has found a list of upcoming SNES titles for the Nintendo Switch Online paid subscription service along with two code-names for virtual consoles that remain unused for the moment.
This is the list of SNES titles KapuccinoHeck could find:
Super Mario Kart
Super Soccer
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
Demon’s Crest
Yoshi’s Island
Stunt Race FX
Kirby’s Dream Course
Pop’n Twinbee
Star Fox
Contra 3
Kirby Super Star
Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
Kirby’s Dream Land 3
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
Pilotwings
F-ZERO
KapuccinoHeck together with Simon1844 and SnowmealDome also found out that two new virtual consoles are in the way, this based on the code name used by Nintendo on their virtual consoles.
While we all would love N64 and GameCube games, it’s very possible that Hiyoko or Count might be the code name for a GameBoy emulator, and with the limitations we had in the GBC and GBA era, I would definitely love to revisit some of my childhood memories with perhaps the ability to play online with my friends with no inconveniences. Some of the best titles in the GBC and GBA library were released only in Japan, so it’s also a chance to get our hands in games that we never never released in America.
Nintendo Switch Online was launched on September last year, and while it’s cheaper than PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold this not bothers Nintendo, as its former Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima stated that the price point was a subject of importance in designing the Switch’s online services, and that regardless of what competitors were doing, “it’s a matter of getting our content to the consumer at a price point that would make them happy, and then we’re willing to look at what else we can do going forward.”
