LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga New Details Revealed

Now that the final movie has released for the recent Star Wars trilogy, there has been a lot more talk about LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, including an interview that Nintendo Everything had with the creatives leads behind the game, Arthur Parsons and James Burgon. In this interview they talk about the expanse of the game, their new engine, and how well the game will work on the Switch.

Like all games in the past, once players unlock characters, they can use them in free play, but free play will work a little differently. There is a giant galaxy map that unlocks little by little as player progress through the game. Even once a planet gets unlocked, not all of the locations on that planet can get accessed right away.

There are even some locations that are only available during certain eras of the story because they wouldn’t have existed before or after that time. This all culminates in a much more dynamic world than most other LEGO games that exist right now.

Something else that will make this LEGO game feel different than past games is TT Games is using a new engine this time around. The creative leads both confirmed that they are using their own engine and not something like Unreal or Unity. Parsons says during the interview that “it’s brand new technology, from the ground up. Everything with this game is brand new tech.” It will be interesting to see how noticeable the new engine is for hardcore fans of all the LEGO games.

The last major details dealt with how the game will perform on the Switch, especially with the new engine in mind. While they didn’t have any specs for the game like the frame rate or resolution, they did confirm that people who have seen it have been impressed so far:

“We’re really pleased. And part of it was gauging, is this going to stand up when people see it for the first time? Are they going to go, ‘Oh, this doesn’t look so great.’ Or are they going to go, ‘Woah’? And it was definitely the latter. Every time we’ve shown it, people have gone, ‘Wow, this is a big step up for LEGO games.’ And we’re like, ‘Great, so that’s the benchmark for the visuals.’”

The outlook for LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga is great right now. Anybody who is looking forward to this game should be pleased with the news for it so far. For those who are wanting more, the interview has even more info that wasn’t covered here, so be sure to go check it out.
