Level-5 revealed Megaton Musashi: its brand new cross-media project (the 5th one). It will be launched in 2017, but it’s not clear on which platforms. During the livestream, we saw concept images with a New Nintendo 3DS XL model, but it’s not clear if that means it’s indeed coming to the Nintendo 3DS.
Megaton Musashi takes place on Earth, in 2118. Our lovely planet has been invaded by the Dorakuta, and 90% of mankind was annihilated in a matter of days. The damages are quite clearly visible, as the planet now has a giant hole at the center (which is why it’s now called Donut Earth now). The three protagonists of Megaton Musashi pilot a mecha called Musashi, and they use it to go fight against the invaders.
Megaton Musashi will get an anime series, a video game (an Action RPG, but no platform announced at the moment as explained above), and even a toy line. The Pilot Movie shows us what we can expect in both the games and with the toy line, with the three Musashi mechas being able to combine, use specific equipment using cards, and more.

“As part of its cross-media project, Level-5 will be working with Jump for what will ikely be a new manga. Go Nagai, known for creating Mazinger Z, which was also a mecha series in Weekly Shonen Jump, shared a message saying that he’s looking forward to seeing Megaton Musashi on the weekly magazine. Hino said that he’ll do his best to make something that won’t let him down.”
