Lost Judgment Opening Cinematic Sets The Stakes

Sega has released the opening cinematic to their upcoming game Lost Judgment, which is set to premiere this September for both PlayStation and Xbox. The action RPG, set in the Yakuza universe, will see players return to the role of a lawyer turned detective Takayuki Yagami as he attempts to solve a bizarre and brutal murder. The opening should help set the gritty tone for the game.

Similar to the first game, Takayuki Yagami will be dragged into a new case thanks to the law firm he once worked at. This time around however it is made clear that pursuing this case might cost Yagami far more than he is willing to risk.

The opening cinematic showcases the vast roster of characters that will be joining the player on their quest for Justice. Several of these characters joined forces with him through the course of the first game, so expect your favourites to make an appearance. As Always with RGG Studio games, you can easily tell the villain in the cinematic from his creepy as all hell smile he gives.

If the cinematic makes you worry the game will be too dark don’t worry. The game will have mini-games, side quests, and more to help lighten up the journey. Earlier this year Sega showcased the classic Sonic fighting game, Sonic Rivals will appear in arcades. There will also be a humorous mission where Yagami has to summon his inner Steve Buscemi to go undercover in a high school.

Lost Judgment also falls into a weird position within the full series. While a spin-off to the Yakuza franchise, it will play closest to classic games in the series with Yagami taking part in fast-paced fistfights in the street. This is in contrast to the turn-based combat Ichiban will be utilizing in the core Yakuza series.

Lost Judgment launches September 24, worldwide, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
