Square Enix’s press conference at this year’s E3 supposed to be one of the biggest ones, thanks to the presentation of titles like Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Outriders and Marvel’s Avengers. Despite the great reactions on the first two aforementioned games, Marvel’s Avengers failed to receive a totally approving reception from the audience due to its unsatisfying performance in character design. However, the game is going to be what you’ve seen in the latest footage and no fundamental change is in the works.
Speaking to IGN, Crystal Dynamics assured fans that the development team is carefully listening to audience and what they ask, but the premiered trailer is still from early stages of development and through the way to the final product, characters and their faces will receive more improvements that makes them more realistic, but anyway, the core design for them won’t be changed.
Most of the critics toward the game’s character design have targeted its unacceptable work on facial reactions that prevent people from making a constant connection with heroes. Others have claimed that the suits for superheroes and their faces are inspired by Avengers movie series with no intention to make them closer to their comic style.
Early impressions for Marvel’s Avengers from both fans and media were probably not what the studio would expect. It seems Crystal Dynamics has more to do until May 2020 to make its upcoming title way better than its E3 showcase and in such a situation, don’t get surprised if the developer pushes the game back.
