MHW: Iceborne Expansion Might Delete Save Data

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

expansion released recently for PC users, it brought much more than the announced goodies, nasty performance issues and deleted save data are being reported by users who downloaded the expansion.

Over Steam and Reddit, players have been sharing their experience, which has been disgraceful to say the least. Players also reports extremely high CPU loads, and the lost of save data has annoyed some and angered others.

COGConnected reports:

Monster Hunter World performs a check for save files upon starting up, and will let players know if the issue with an error message that reads “no compatible save was found.” Continuing on after receiving the message will result in the game creating a new save file over any older ones.

Polygon has reached Capcom for more information, the developer assured that they’re “aware and looking into the issue.”

COGConnected also reports some of the theories behind this problem, some argue that mods are the cause of the problem, but in reality, both players who has mods those without it has lost their save data. Another theory is the missing of important updates, which also seems unlikely.

Capcom recommends players who had any issue with the PC version of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion, to get in contact with Capcom’s support team.

Steam’s reviews for the $39.99 USD expansion is “Mostly negative”, the “most helpful review” in Steam tells a horror story for user “Spazwazza”

“Months of delay for the PC release of Iceborne, and it still doesn’t work on launch. Poor optimization, on top of which they added a bunch of anti-cheat DRM (24 threads constantly scanning the game’s .exe for mods and cheats, on top of Denuvo) that bloats the CPU usage to the point of unplayability. There’s already a bypass for it, so now cheaters can play the game fine while paying customers (who may or may not have been using mods before to begin with) are the ones negatively affected. Unacceptable.”
