Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator has just announced that Steam users can now pre-order the Standard, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions of the game. The game will also be available on Windows 10 and Xbox Games Pass on August 18.
Neumann also announced that TrackIR will be available on day one, VR support will arrive later this year to match the launch of the HP Reverb G2 VR headset.
VR will be a big selling point for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the game features TrackIR, a head tracking solution delivering full six degrees of freedom (6DOF) camera control for an ultra-immersive simulator experience. TrackIR allows players to enjoy a low latency mouse free look around with Microsoft Flight Simulator in full 4K/HDR.
Listening to the community has been a priority for the development team since the announcement of Microsoft Flight Simulator in June 2019. Two of the most requested features we’ve been hearing about from the Community are TrackIR and VR support.
Xbox Game Studios and Asobo Studio are committed to the community, and the ongoing support of Microsoft Flight Simulator with experience enhancing features like those we’ve announced today. But we have even more planned post-launch
One of the exciting implications of this is that the data that makes up the world is always improving, and players can look forward to a simulator that evolves over time. Thanks to our partnership with Bing, players will enjoy new, even better terrain, and an ever evolving, machine learning-fueled simulator that grows over time.
In addition to Track IR and VR, Neumann also confirmed that Asobo will continue to work with Honeycomb Aeronautical, Logitech G, Thrustmaster, Virtual Fly and many other manufacturers to further improve the experience.
