Microsoft is Debating Putting Call of Duty Games on Game Pass

According to a recent report from The Verge’s Tom Warren, Microsoft is currently debating on whether the upcoming Call of Duty game and future titles from the franchise should be added to Game Pass. The debate has reportedly been “ongoing internally for quite some time.” However, according to the report, there are concerns from some that the revenue that the franchise generates for Activision Blizzard “will be undermined by Game Pass.” Additionally, the report also claims that the company is also considering hiking the price of Game Pas Ultimate, but these are just considerations for now, and no concrete conversations have been made.

Microsoft Gaming president Matt Booty recently sent out a company-wide email announcing that Bethesda Softworks will close down Arkane Austin (Redfall) Tango Gameworks (HI-FI RUSH, The Evil Within) Alpha Dog Games (Mighty DOOM), and Roundhouse Studios. According to the email, this was done “so that we can invest more deeply in our portfolio of games and new IP.” It also notes that “a small number of roles across select Bethesda publishing and corporate teams will also be eliminated.”

The game’s details via the publisher:

In the direct sequel to the record-breaking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Captain Price and Task Force 141 face off against the ultimate threat.
