Microsoft Not Planning to Delay Xbox Series X

IGN’s latest episode of Xbox show Podcast Unlocked

invited Xbox’s boss Phil Spencer, he says that Microsoft do not have a plan B ahead of the risk of Coronavirus affecting the launch of Xbox Series X. Spencer explains that at the moment, Microsoft will do everything in their hands to offer players a next gen Xbox this year.

“We haven’t really started on any kind of plan b, as you asked about.” Phil Spencer.

Spencer explains IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey that, he saw the impact of a late release in Japan of Xbox One meant for Microsoft, he confirms that delaying the console is not going to happen, there are no alternatives being discussed at Microsoft’s HQ. However, Spencer also is aware of Coronavirus, and he says that the safety of the Xbox team and the quality of the Xbox Series X are the priorities, so he might suggested that, if world’s conditions do not improve in the following months, a delay might take place.

“We have nothing right now that says we’re not going to make the dates that we’ve been planning,” … “But this is real time stuff, and I’m going to put the safety and security of the teams at the top, along with a quality product. I don’t want to rush a product out if it’s not ready.”

“The thing that i’m going to put front and center is safety and security of the team,” he said. “There’s no decision I will make, or frankly, anybody at Microsoft would even ask me to make that would compromise the safety and security of the teams for a near-term either financial or product gain. The teams are the most important thing.”

Microsoft and Sony are both planning a release of their consoles in holidays, it’s been debated the impact of the COVID-19 Coronavirus in the manufacture of the next gen consoles. Nintendo has been tackled hard by the virus, forcing delays in the manufactures and scarcity in new Nintendo Switch consoles. AMD has recently stated that the next gen consoles won’t be delayed and are going on track for a holidays release.
