Leak: Microsoft Possible Studio Acquisitions – More E3 Showcase Details

More leaks keep appearing on Microsoft’s camp, and according to an anonymous source, it has been revealed that apparently Microsoft’s gaming division is on a purchasing spree, trying to acquire as many first party studios as they can, below are a list of possible acquisitions that Microsoft might announce during their E3 press conference:

  • 1. Microsoft purchased Playground
    • Forza Horizon in-house now
    • Rumored Fable game from second studio
  • 2. Microsoft is purchasing two more studios
    • US based (anyone who has a good working relationship with Microsoft has been named, essentially Undead Labs seems to be rumor front runner)
    • Canadian team (many assume it would be Studio MDHR (developers of Cuphead, however Capcom Vancouver has also been suggested as a possible adquisition as well)
  • 3. Santa Monica stuff if you missed it before (new studio, headed by Darrell Gallaghar, no projects hinted at yet, reportedly developing a game for next-gen hardware)
  • 4. Three new Gears of War games in the works
    • An X-Com style game
    • A spinoff series (speculation is a horror game or a battle-royale)
    • A full-on sequel
  • 5. Halo Infinity (could be Halo 6, could be a spin-off, though the spin-off is likely the recently announced arcade experience, unless there’s something else)
  • 6. Source A is going silent until the show and Source B (I think) simply responded “more” to the studio acquisition thread.

There were also rumors that Devil May Cry 5 would have an exclusivity deal with Microsoft in some way or form, however, this rumor has been debunked. Also the Spain website of Game, a popular game retailer in europe has also posted a pre-order for Final Fantasy VIII remake on Xbox one, suggesting that the game may not be exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 4.

That being said, leaks rumors and speculations should always be taken with a grain of salt, we expect further details to be unveiled by Microsoft at their Press Conference.

Microsoft E3 Press conference will be held on Sunday  1 PM PT / 4 PM ET / 9 PM BST and with the collaboration of the Entertainment Software Association, the organizers of E3, Microsoft has announced that their press conference will be taking over at the Microsoft Theater, a perfectly situated space located in the heart of L.A. Live and across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center.
