At the wrap-up of E3 Press Conference, Phil Spencer reportedly shed some light about Microsoft plans for the future of Xbox.
This is what Phil Spencer himself had to say about the future of Xbox:
“The team behind last year’s launch of Xbox One X is deep into architecturing the next Xbox console, where we will once again deliver on our commitment to deliver the benchmark of console gaming.”
Phil Spencer also stated that a big part of Microsoft Xbox’s future is AI, with Microsoft investing heavily on Microsoft AI in the hopes to improve AI behavior of the their next-gen games, this is specially amazing considering that we haven’t seen a major revolution in AI behavior on modern games, so this could be finally the time to showcase new gameplay possibilities with new AI technologies.
It was not expected of Microsoft to go and tease something this early in the current console’s lifecycle, however, considering that this current generation is estimated to last 2 more years at best, I guess I may not be that surprising to see some announcements happening at this point in time, especially with heavy rumors of Sony shipping early PlayStation 5 SDK to major studios nowadays.
With the heavy investment that Microsoft did to acquire a multiple of first-party studios, it is likely that Microsoft is going full force on an investment spree to get themselves ready to take the market-share from Sony at the next generation of hardware.
“Xbox One continues to be the best place to play the biggest blockbuster games with over 220 titles enhanced for Xbox One X, the world’s most powerful console, with new games leveraging the power of the platform from some of the world’s most talented creators like Fallout 76 from Bethesda Game Studios, Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 from Ubisoft Massive and dozens more. Independent game creators also continue to innovate on Xbox One with games like Session, Below, Ashen and Tunic coming to Xbox One as console launch exclusives.”
