Mighty No. 9 has had a ‘troubled’ existence, shall we say. The game was met with huge enthusiasm on Kickstarter, but that was nearly three years ago, and thanks to a lot of delays, as well as new crowd funding campaigns from Comcept before this game is even out, that has cooled a fair bit.
It’s been confirmed that the title is definitely coming on June 21st in North America & Asia, and June 24th worldwide, as it’s now ‘gone gold’. It’s hitting stores and download services, with Wii U one of the many initial platforms along with Sony, Xbox and PC hardware; 3DS and Vita are coming later.
Keiji Inafune has said that, as the game has gone gold, the new release dates are “set in stone,” and therefore no further delays will occur. He took time to reflect on the three years that have passed since their Kickstarter campaign began, and that “everyone’s passions were combined in order to create something very special.”
Mighty No. 9 will release on Wii U in North America on June 21st and worldwide on June 24th.
“It has been almost three years since the start of our Kickstarter campaign, which was only made possible through the support of our backers and fans around the world. This is a project where everyone’s passions were combined in order to create something very special, and we are looking forward to delivering the final product to everyone who was involved. There can be no stronger connection between game creators and game fans.”
