The release of Mighty No. 9 is getting closer and closer, though despite the game not even being out yet we’re already getting a look at the game’s DLC. This one in particular stars protagonist Beck’s rival Ray, who bears the title of Vermilion Destroyer.
Ray definitely marks a distinct difference in style compared to Beck, though Comcept has been keeping details on the character to a minimum. They claim this is due to the fact that the character is supposed to be “shrouded in mystery,” though they were willing to go into the design process for the character.
Developer Comcept said the following regarding the design of Ray:
“The first thing we did was work on deciding the primary color for RAY. Inafune requested that it be orange, but KIMOKIMO was never really able to come up with an orange design he was satisfied with. In the end, they settled on a vermilion color base with some splashes of orange as well. There were a lot of pieces of fanart that had flowing hair, so we also decided to show her hair a bit. However, we decided to go with something a bit more unique and instead of having normal hair we gave her green cable like extensions that can be plugged into computer ports for hacking purposes.”
Mighty No. 9 will be launching for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on June 21st.
