After Shawn Layden’s departure from Sony Interactive Entertainment after 30 years, now another departure is happening on the rival’s side. Mike Ybarra, Vice President at Xbox Team, has announced that he is no longer a part of Microsoft’s team and looks forward his new career which he is going to reveal soon. He said:
After 20 years at Microsoft, it’s time for my next adventure. It’s been a great ride at Xbox and the future is bright. Thanks to everyone at TeamXbox, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished and I wish you the best. More soon on what’s next for me (super excited)!
Mike Ybarra left his role at Microsoft after 20 years of working for the company. For now, it remains as mystery that who’s going to take his role at Xbox team.
With two important chairs getting empty at Sony and Microsoft in same time, it comes to mind that maybe there’s a third company in between which tries to gather veteran video game related managers of the world. I know that Google is the most probable suspect amongst the options, but we have to wait and see where these experienced managers are going to continue their career at in the future.
Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5 both will be launching next year in Holidays and the top empty chairs at both company’s might refer to the start of a new era for Sony and Microsoft in gaming industry.
