PlayStation Studios’ MLB The Show 21 Will Launch For Xbox

The PlayStations Studios exclusive title, MLB The Show 21 is launching on April 20 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

MLB The Show 21 was first announced in December 2019, the development was appointed to PlayStation Studios, however, during its official announcement it was also confirmed that the game “would be released to other console platforms.” Fans assumed that the game would be only exclusive for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but a release on Xbox is part of the multi-year extension to the company’s video licensing deal with Sony.

This is a very exciting moment for all of us as the storied franchise will be accessible to more gamers than before. We would like to thank everyone at PlayStation, Xbox, Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball Players Association and the San Diego Studio for working diligently to bring MLB The Show to more users.

MLB The Show 21 features cross-platform play and cross-progression, which means that players can take the bat against each other regardless of consoles, players can also play now on old-gen hardware and resume the season at any next-gen console.

Ramone Russell Game Designer & Online Community Manager at Sony San Diego Studio also announced that this year they will be rolling out Feature Premiere, which will be broadcasting simultaneously across Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Live. The Feature Premieres will showcase what’s next on the critically acclaimed baseball game. For MLB The Show 21, the studio will be hosting six Feature Premieres with the first one being released in March.

Sony San Diego announced the MLBTS21 Standard Edition and the next-gen standard edition.

The Standard Edition includes:

  • The Game
  • DLC Items:
    • 5,000 Stubs

The Next-gen Standard Edition includes:

  • The Game
  • DLC Items:
    • 5,000 Stubs
    • [10] The Show Packs

Collector’s Edition will be revealed on February 3, the information to be revealed soon is very important for those who don’t have a next-gen console, as it’s suggested that there will be no standard edition upgrade path from current-gen to next-gen.

“If you are interested in having access to the game on both current and next-gen platforms, please wait for more info about the collector’s edition.” Says Russell.
