During today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2 – Wings of Ruin. Both games will release or Nintendo Switch in 2021.
A special Nintendo Direct: Monster Hunter was hosted after the Partner Showcase, the Series Producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, along with Yasunori Ichinose, Director of Monster Hunter Rise revealed more details of both games.
Monster Hunter Rise is a brand new reimagination of the classic Monster Hunter experience, the game will take players on the role of saving the Kamura Village from the imminent “Rampage”.
According to Tsujimoto, the Rise in the title refers to Capcom’s idea of players running up cliffs, maps are designed to be more vertical. Developers designed a new item called the Wirebug, the insects will allow the player to reach places that normally would be out of reach. Combining Wirebugs with attacks allows the hunter to have freedom in its movement. Players can make unique combos and have a much more fast-paced combat using the new item.
Monster Hunter Rise also introduces a new canyne buddy called “Palamute, the new buddy will allow the hunter to travel at long distances quicker than running or using the Wirebugs, while riding the “Palamute”, the stamina won’t decrease, so the hunter can run at max speed without running out of stamina.
Canyne buddies are of an attacking type, this means that while the hunter is fighting a monster, the buddy will attack and help the player. Felyne buddies are also coming back for those who want a more support type of partner. The hunter can take two buddies on a quest.
Monster Hunter Rise will be available on March 26, 2021
