The new trailer offered a preview of the new story, the new Elgado Outpost hub, new monsters, new hunter abilities, the new more difficult Master Rank, and the release date of the expansion – June 30th, 2022 for both the Switch and PC versions.

The digital version of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will cost $39.99 for the Standard Edition, and $49.99 for the Deluxe Edition. Players buying the Deluxe Edition will get bonus content such as layered armor sets, gestures and hairstyles. There will also be a limited Collector’s Edition available in the US and Canada for $99.99. This will include a voucher for the Deluxe Edition of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, as well as a physical sticker pack, enamel pin, steelbook case and an amiibo figure of the expansion’s flagship monster – Malzeno. Those who have not purchased the base game can purchase the Monster Hunter Rise + Sunbreak bundle which includes the base game and the expansion.

Pre-orders for the expansion are available starting today – March 15th. Any players that do pre-order the game will also receive the “Loyal Dog” and “Striped Cat” layered armor sets for your palamute and palico companions.

Nintendo will also be releasing three new Malzeno-inspired amiibo at launch, which will unlock special layered armor for their hunter, palamute and palico.

Capcom also announced a few additions to the base game. To help prepare hunters for the new expansion, they have added new defender weapons and Black Belt armor, as well as the Veteran’s Talisman that should provide players an early boost in attack power and defense as they begin their journeys in Kamura. The Guild Cross set is also available to provide players a boost to gathering skills to aid in the harvesting of useful items.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently available on Nintendo Switch and Steam, and was awarded an 8/10 in our review.
