Capcom has announced a collaboration with Nintendo to bring The Legend of Zelda-themed costumes and accessories to Monster Hunter Stories.
That includes the “Hero’s Sword” and “Hero’s Shield” for the protagonist, and the horse Epona, as well. We also see the Majora’s Mask on the protagonist’s companion, Nabiru.
Monster Hunter Stories is due out for 3DS in Japan on October 8.
Check out the Trailer:
“Battles were turn based and attacks were split into three types power, speed and technical. Depending on what the enemy and your monster selected depended on how successful your attack was as well as whether you got to avoid theirs.
Overall, it’s a charming little role-playing game with a nice vibrant aesthetic for the 3DS. Considering that Monster Hunter Stories is also getting an anime, this could actually do quite well in Japan.
That said Capcom has tried a few times to take on Pokémon and never really managed to pull it off. We already had the excellent Gaist Crusher games developed by Treasure but they didn’t resonate with younger gamers at all here.
In the case of Monster Hunter though, that’s already an established series that gamers of all ages enjoy a great deal in Japan. In that sense, Monster Hunter Stories could do well and maybe even give Pokémon a run for its money.”
