E3 has come and went and while we did get to see a lot, not everything we might have wanted was present. One rumor going into the Nintendo Direct on Tuesday was the hope that two Zelda Remasters might be heading to the Switch. Those two games are Twilight Princess and Wind Waker.
They would not be the first games ported from the Wii U to the Switch so the logic makes sense. Unfortunately, the Wii U struggled in its console life to find series footing meaning that while many games on it were good, they did not have the audience needed. On the other hand, the Switch has been doing extremely well. Since The Legend of Zelda does extremely well it stands to reason that we can expect them on the system soon.

Prior to E3, industry insider, Jeff Grubb suggested we might see the ports during the Nintendo Direct. Of course, that did not happen and we were only shown the HD remaster of Skyward Sword, which they have been touting for a while. Editor at VGC, Andy Robinson, has now suggested there is a reason they did not appear.
According to him the games are not just coming, but are pretty much finished and just waiting for an official reveal. The plan is, as he put it, to hold back on the reveal until after Skyward Sword is in the hands of players.
Upon release Skyward Sword was hit with mixed reviews. While the game was liked in terms of story and setting, the heavy use of motion controls for combat was not as well-liked. Wind Waker has long been held as one of the best of the Zelda series, while held in lesser regard Twilight Princess is mostly well-liked by fans. The idea that they might take focus away from Skyward Sword does have sound logical.
Either way, we will need to wait and see. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword releases for the Nintendo Switch on July 16.
