Mortal Kombat 11 is April 2019’s Best Selling Game

NetherRealm Studio’s Mortal Kombat 11 achieves 1.8 million sales and has become April 2019’s best selling game.

That’s right 1.8 million units overall have been sold in May and that definitely beats Mortal Kombat X’s 400,000 units being sold in 2015. According to Nielsen Company’s SuperData marketing research website says that this may be due to “rising digital download rates on console.”

Along with this, US Video Games Industry Analyst for the NPD Group, Matt Piscatella confirms that MK11 is the number one game in April 2019 Top 20 Sellers chart. This even beats Kingdom Hearts 3’s spot as the number 1 seller in April 2019.

This makes sense now that fighting games are becoming more prominent now. So because of digital downloads, people will be able to download whatever game they need at any time.

As Mortal Kombat 11 released, it came out to be a spectacular game that combined fighting brutality with a fast-paced strategic element. Unfortunately the game faces some backlash as the unlockables are locked behind the game’s Krypt and Towers of Time which took way too much time away from fighting players online.

As NetherRealm fixed this issue by nerfing the towers and giving players tons of free in-game currency, new problems came about. Employees have been diagnosed with PTSD due to working with the game’s brutality. While most of the PTSD came from the reference materials they were given, it still left a mark on some employees.

In the meantime, Mortal Kombat 11 remains to be one of the most visually pleasing, and strategic fighting games in this generation. The employees at Netherrealm are currently working on fixing the bugs in the game such as the FPS drops players have been facing. So for now, Mortal Kombat 11 still has tons of work for the future.
