PlayStation 4 owners will now be able to join the survival as the multiplayer zombie battle royale-esque title DayZ has officially been announced for the console. Players can drop into the unique chaos with up to 60 players per server and survive against the zombie invasion, and other players who threaten their lives.
What’s different about DayZ compared to other large scale multiplayer and battle royal games is that players also have the option of sticking together to survive the infection. The game was in Early Access for nearly an eternity (okay, since 2012) but eventually officially released on PC late last year and an Xbox One version released earlier this year. The early Access version of the game sold more than four million copies before its official launch in December 2018.
Check out Playstation Blog’s description of the game below:
The post-soviet country of Chernarus is struck by an unknown virus, turning the majority population into frenzied infected. Fighting over resources has bred a hostile mentality among survivors, driving what’s left of humanity to collapse. You are one of the few immune to the virus — how far will you go to survive?
DayZ may be adopting many elements found within the popular battle royale genre, but adds some interesting aspects to the gameplay as well. DayZ is expected to land on the PS4 on May 29, 2019.
