Need For Speed Heat Won’t Feature Microtransactions or Loot Boxes

Earlier yesterday, Ghost Games and Electronic Arts officially announced Need For Speed Heat as the new entry of the series coming this year. Despite some initial information that we received from the announcement trailer, Ghost Games has recently shared some additional details on Heat’s post-launch support.

First things first, the development team confirmed that Need For Speed Heat won’t feature any microtransactions or loot boxes. This means that Speed Cards from NFS Payback won’t be coming to the new title. After EA’s scandal on loot boxes for Star Wars: Battlefront 2, the company has decided to lower the number of loot boxes in its titles and add more free post-launch content instead. However, for Heat, this will not be happening.

According to Ghost Games, NFS Heat will get some DLCs and car packs after launch and they are going to cost you money if you want to have them on your game. Regarding that in racing games cars are the most important parts, selling car packs could be a dangerous way of monetization if the developer doesn’t put enough cars for players at launch.

In Need For Speed Heat players will take the role of a professional street racer who lives in Palm City. You will race at daylight in the legal street tournaments to get money and improve your cars, while at night, you have to take part in illegal races which mostly end up in dozens of police cars chasing after you in order to claim the crown of the streets.

Heat will be available on November 8 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
