Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Announced

EA today announced Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation, the game will launch in November 6.

EA has not confirmed next-gen ports for the game, however is very likely that both consoles will be able to run the game sometime this year via backwards compatibility.

Ten years ago, Criterion Games released their critically acclaimed franchise debut Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. It introduced NFS and racing fans to the winding, open roads of Seacrest County, Criterion’s renowned feel for breakneck speed and gameplay, and the innovative Autolog system, empowering true social competition between friends.

Ever since, we’ve heard so many stories about the triumphant moments and heated rivalries Autolog fostered. Some of which run very, very deep.

According to EA, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered has been “upgraded” for current gen consoles. The Nintendo Switch version, coming later on November 13, will run at 1080p/30 FPS in docked mode, and (720p/30 FPS undocked). Playing on a TV features the Switch to increase the resolution models, show more objects, and feature longer draw distances, higher resolution shadows, and improved videos.

Running on PC and depending on the hardware specifications, up to 4K/60 FPS is supported. Players can choose between 4K/30 FPS or 1080p/60 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. Base versions of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will run the game at 1080p/30 FPS. All versions of the game will feature higher resolution reflections, boosted textures, more particles, and improved AA/SSAO.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered features cross-platform multiplayer and Autolog, this means that players can connect with other racers across platforms in head-to-head pursuit and races. EA confirms that Autolog is also supported with cross-platform sync, so you can make a mark on your friends’ Speedwalls no matter if they’re playing on PS4, Xbox One, PC, or Nintendo Switch.

The remaster also fetures all main DLC, the SCPD Rebel Racer Pack, Super Sports Pack, Armed & Dangerous Pack, Lamborghini Untamed Pack, and Porsche Unleashed Pack at launch, with an extra six hours of gameplay and more than 30 challenges.
