SNK has been featured heavily on the radar lately by reviving some classic gems as well as bringing over some nostalgia from releases of some of their classic gaming library. The most recent announcement from the vintage gaming company, however, comes in the form of some new hardware rather than introducing new games. They recently teased an upcoming hardware announcement a couple of months ago, and it seems that announcement has come to fruition.
SNK has recently announced the NeoGeo Arcade Stick Pro which looks to invoke the retro days of the company, releasing sometime in the near future for the NeoGo mini. They made the announcement via Twitter earlier today hoping to introduce a new era of gamers to the retro style of gaming.
The company has also been extremely busy with other classic gems hitting the modern era as the classic weapons fighter Samurai Shodown has been rebooted earlier this year, as well as a Samurai Shodown NeoGeo collection hitting stores sometime this fall.
Earlier in August, SNK also announced The King of Fighter XV, though very little has been revealed on the next installment in the long running series.
As for now, there’s very little known on what to expect from the newly announced Arcade Stick Pro, except that it’s “Pro-Gear Spec Advanced Entertainment System”. We assume it will be compatible with the already released NeoGeo mini which boasts 40 classic NeoGeo titles pre-loaded on the console.
In other news, Samurai Shodown was recently revealed to launch on the Switch in Japan this coming December while the PC version has yet to be announced. The PS4 and Xbox One version of the game released two days prior in the west than the Japanese release, so it’s expected to still launch in the west in 2019.
