NetherRealm Co-Developing Mortal Kombat 11 for Switch

NetherRealm Co-Developing Mortal Kombat 11 for Switch

NetherRealm Studios is working to bring Mortal Kombat 11 for the Nintendo Switch with developer Shiver Entertainment, this was confirmed by MK11 Producer Trevor Traub in an interview with Game Revolution where he vastly speak about a different subjects from similarities and differences from Injustice 2 and how which sacrifices will be made to port Mortal Kombat 11 to the Nintendo Switch.

Read this short extract of the interview down below:

I actually really like the Switch build. I like the Joy-Con controller more than I thought. We’re trying to reach as many people as we possibly can. So we’re going to take that opportunity.

There are special geometry reductions that happen to make it work on the Switch. The end product is actually really fantastic. We’re actually not developing it in house; it’s being developed by Shiver Studios. They’re developing it at the same time as us so it’s sort of a co-development. There is no lead SKU.

Nintendo hasn’t seen a Mortal Kombat game since 2007 when Armageddon released for Nintendo Wii, and this historically has labeled the Nintendo consoles as a system for younger audience since the original Mortal Kombat released without its characteristic violence.

Official description by NetherRealm Studios:

Mortal Kombat 11 deepens and personalizes the experience unlike ever before with an all new Custom Character Variation System that gives players the creative control of building customized versions of the character roster. In addition, the game will introduce a new cinematic story that continues the epic saga that is more than 25 years in the making.
