Aisha Tyler rolled out some pretty interesting news regarding the Assassin’s Creed movie still in production. Speaking on behalf of the 20th Century Fox Production in association with Regency Pictures was Frank Marshall, a producer on the project. After being welcomed onto the stage he talked a little more about the direction in which the film is going. Marshall has been in the film industry for quite some time, working on other franchise like Back to the Future and the Bourne Identity movies. It had been revealed earlier this year that more than majority of the film will indeed be taking place in the present time with the lesser portion occurring in the simulated world of the Animus. Michael Fassbender is playing the lead role of Callum Lynch, a man who through the Animus, discovers that his ancestor Aguilar was once a part of a secret society of assassins.
Marshall expressed his desire to pay homage to the source material, while still taking some healthy creative license. This would explain why the film will not predominantly take place in setting of Callum Lynch’s ancestral memories. He also wants to focus on being somewhat historically accurate with the setting and it does show in the new trailer to a point. Lastly, the film’s producer spoke of his commitment to focusing heavily on the parkour elements as seen in the AC games. The trailer features footage from both the Animus as well as the near future in which the main character exists. The parkour footage in the Animus look to be well executed and well photographed. The film will reach theaters on December 21, 2016.
