EA: Next-Gen Battlefield Coming in Holidays 2021 – Featuring Massive Immersive Battles

During a recent financial report, Electronic Arts revealed more details about the next-gen Battlefield game being developed at DICE affirming that the project is “way ahead” of schedule.

The upcoming Battlefield game will be revealed to the public this spring, the game’s release is still scheduled for Holidays 2021. Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts referred to the game as a return to the franchise to military warfare.

The game takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive immersive battles to life with more players than ever before. Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle, and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevate it to another level. The team is focused and the game is ahead of our internal milestones.

Blake Jorgensen, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer at Electronic Arts added.

I can tell you now that the Battlefield team is doing an incredible job. They’re way ahead of where they were in product — prior product cycles, on track for their earliest feature complete in franchise history.

Wilson also affirmed that the upcoming Battlefield game will take full advantage of Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 hardware. Being said this, fans can assume that the game will skip old-gen consoles entirely. Wilson reiterates the word unprecedented and mentions maps with more players, something that will add fuel to the rumors of a next-gen multiplayer experience.

Electronic Arts is planning to reveal more about the six upcoming games to be released by the end of FY ’22 in the following months, according to the executive the publisher is “looking forward to delivering more great experiences for hundreds of millions of people.”
