With Dragon Quest XI heading over to the hybrid Switch console equipped with the ‘S’ added to the title, fans are excited regarding the amount of bonus content exclusive for the Switch release. Japanese voice overs, new game content and the optional 2D mode are keeping the game fresh from the original PS4 and PC release.
While the 2D mode is also present on the Japanese exclusive 3DS version, the western audience has yet to play the coveted new Dragon Quest title in its retro form. Some new gameplay footage has been released during a live stream from Tokyo, and within this footage shows players the differences between the original 3D version on the Switch, along with the iconic old-school 2D style.

As you can obviously tell, the 2D mode is perfect for those JRPG fans hungering for a retro turn-based title. While the 2D version is awfully compelling, the beauty in the 3D world is hard to match.
Dragon Quest XI S is set to release in the west later this year, while the PS4 and PC versions are currently available.
