With Sony making clear that their next digital event will not be the usual State of Play, rumors are already spirling about what players might be able to expect at the PlayStation Showcase later this week on September 9. According to a new rumor, we might see a return to the classic PlayStation superhero franchise InFamous.

XboxEra co-founder @Shpeshal_Nick took to Twitter yesterday to relay a rumor he has heard relating to the franchise from Sucker Punch. However, even he attached to the rumor that it should be taken with a major grain of salt as he was unable to verify the rumor himself.
Ok. Please take this one with a grain of salt because it’s one of the things I couldn’t get confirmed. But because I like the series I’m hoping it’s true. But there’s a chance we could see Infamous make a return at Sony’s showcase. Fingers crossed.

As he states in the tweet “there’s a chance we could see Infamous make a return at Sony’s Showcase” which would be a big left-field announcement coming out of the event. While nothing can be taken as fact, it is important to note he has had a pretty good track record with Sucker Punch, leaking the Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut earlier this year. It should be noted that the InFamous web domain has recently been renewed.
Ghost of Tsushima is the latest game from Sucker Punch. The game proved popular upon release and ended with rumors for more stories so it remains to be seen if the company might continue with that, go back to InFamous, or alternate between the two moving forward. With the release of the Director’s Cut, it does appear that the company now how the ability to focus on whatever their next project might be.
We have not seen InFamous since the spin-off title InFamous: First Light back in 2014. While nothing is set in stone, it would be cool to see the franchise return.
